Like many of my fellow PhD-ers, I enrolled in a doctoral program with hopes of meeting a tenured professorship and a long career in academia on the other side. But, plans rarely remain unchanged. Seven years later, I’ve arrived on the other side. Ecstatic to have the degree, it comes with all of those work, volunteer, travel, and life experiences that happened along the way. While my passion (and greatest talent) remains writing, my career path no longer leads to a university. I’ve learned, working with nonprofits and international development organizations, that words have the power to change the world and I want to help write that change.
